AMSR 10th Anniversary Summer Party 2026
Friday, July 3rd, 2026
Over 100 invited guests attended the Archive of Market and Social Research Summer Party, at Kings College, London on Monday 29th June to celebrate its 10th Anniversary. It was wonderful to see how the concept for an Archive, sketched out on the back of an envelope by Liz Nelson all those years ago, has grown into the comprehensive, well used and valuable resource which it is today. And all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the many contributors, supporters and volunteers who have made it all possible.
Kelly Beaver MBE, CEO Ipsos UK & Ireland, gave a fascinating Keynote Speech entitled: ‘What’s the point of the Archive in this modern world?’ There were updates from AMSR Chairman Richard Asquith, and a focus on the very successful AMSR Schools Programme with talks from Liz Watts Schools Programme, AMSR, Tom Genillard Sociology & Criminology Subject Advisor, Cambridge OCR and
Felicity Eden of St. Thomas More School, Blaydon, Tyne & Wear.
But the stars of the show were undoubtedly the two students from St. Thomas More School, who had searched the Archive to choose a topic on which to base their own research. They had discovered a survey by Boots Cosmetics on ‘Attitudes towards cosmetic products’ and had replicated the survey with their own research among pupils at their school. They presented a summary of their findings, which showed that the ‘majority of opinions on cosmetics are positive’, and included the astonishing nugget of information that some respondents stated that ‘they had never gone to school without makeup in at least 5 years’.
