The Network’s AGM, with the added bonus of Christmas drinks, was held on the evening of Tuesday 5 December at Verian’s premises just a stone’s throw from the Palace of Westminster. Despite some public transport problems and the inevitable last-minute health issues, about 35 people attended

The latest in our occasional series of NED (Network Evening Drinks) Talks took place on Zoom on the evening of Wednesday 15 November, when Chris Martin talked of his exploits rowing first the Atlantic and then the Pacific Ocean.

Three new Oral Histories have been added to the list of available recordings. The interviews, with Nick Moon, Mike Cooke and John Kelly, can be found here.

We were delighted to welcome over 80 members and guests to Brasserie Blanc in Waterloo for our Autumn Lunch on Tuesday 17th October. This is a record attendance figure for recent years and reflects the terrific work put in by Jane A’Court and the Research Network champions to recruit new members.

The Archive regularly publishes brief stories on its website compiled from the thousands of research reports, news items and other documents that it holds. Network member Jade On has been named by the MRS as one of its Research Heroes for 2023. Jade, who joined the Network last year, is currently Business Development Director at Perspective Research Services

The Tony Cowling Foundation has announced that Voice of Ukraine from Kantar Public has won the 2023 Tony Cowling Foundation Industry Innovation Award.

The Research Network held its annual Summer Party ơn 4th July. The venue, as in previous years, was the 3rd floor bar and terrace of Doggetts Coat & Badge at the southern end of Blackfriars Bridge.

The AMSR held its annual summer evening drinks party on 13th June at the same attractive venue as last year, the top floor and roof terrace of Bush House. The venue was donated by the Policy Institute and OvationMR sponsored the event.

The Network returned to Brigade Bar + Kitchen on Tooley Street for this year’s Spring Lunch on Tuesday 25 April. About one-third of the 60 people attending were either new members who had joined in the last twelve months or invited non-members – a great response to our recruitment campaign!

The Archive of Market and Social Research (AMSR) has announced a new date for its online joint seminar with Mass Observation. Part of the Mass Observation Seminar Series, the event is titled ‘Exploring the Archives: researching the narrative of happiness and the history of feeling’

For the first time since March 2020 the MRS held its annual conference in a physical venue – The Hilton Bankside. A place where people could get together, meet new people and talk in person.

The MRBA has launched its annual fundraising auction, which runs until 23rd March. Bid now to snap up a bargain and support the MRBA.

The next edition of the Research Network Newsletter will be sent to all members in early February. It includes reviews and selected photos of the Autumn Lunch at the Royal Air Force Club and of the AGM and Christmas Drinks held in December.
