This year’s ‘Christmas Drinks and AGM’ event was held on 6th December at the TNS offices in More London Place.

Archive of Market & Social Research (AMSR) held a reception on 7th November 2017 at the IPA offices in Belgrave Square to launch its online archive.

Our 15th Anniversary lunch was held on Thursday 19th October at the RAF Club in Piccadilly. Pictures of this splendid event are now in the gallery and you can read more about it on the News page.

Edited Oral History interviews with John Goodyear, Mary Goodyear, Hugh Bain and Ed Ross are now available to listen to on the MRS website.

We are delighted to welcome Roger Holland to the Research Network Steering Group. Roger is taking over responsibility for Membership Development from Sue Nosworthy, who is stepping down.

The MRBA held a very successful 40th Anniversary party on 4th October at the ‘M’ for Montcalm Hotel.

We were blessed with another gloriously sunny day for this year’s summer party at Doggetts Coat and Badge. You can read more about it on the News page and pictures of the event are in the Gallery.

Four new Oral Histories are now available to listen to on the MRS Oral History website page. Further completed interviews are currently being edited and more interviews are planned for later this year.

In the run up to the General Election, the polling industry has not been successful in communicating the overall reliability of polls to the general public. It was therefore encouraging to see an educational video from Ben Page at Ipsos MORI.

The British Polling Council has published details of the changes in methodology made by the various polling companies to address the inaccuracies in results seen in the 2015 general election.

Network member Barry Leventhal has been awarded the MRS Gold Medal for his services as Chair of the influential MRS Census and Geodemographics Group.

This year’s Spring Lunch was held on Wednesday 26th April at Thai Silk in verdant Isabella Street, near Southwark tube. Pictures of the event can be viewed in the Gallery.

Linda Henshall is pleased to report that this year’s MRBA auction reached its fundraising target, raising £7,032.  The MRBA would like to thank everyone who contributed to this success, either by donating items or bidding for them. 

The Archive of Market and Social Research celebrated its first year of operation as a charity in February.  The occasion was marked by a social event at the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, with the volunteers and sponsors who have helped to establish the Archive. 

The MRBA annual fundraising auction is now on and runs until 9:00pm on 4th April 2017. There are many exciting lots to bid for, so make sure you visit the auction website.

The Market Research Society has announced that it’s next president will be Jan Gooding, global inclusion director of Aviva. 

Research Network member Mike Cooke has been appointed as the new chairman of the ESOMAR Legal Affairs Committee, taking over from Adam Phillips. 

The Research Network inaugural debate has been postponed until the autumn. A new date will be announced in due course.

The Archive of Market and Social Research now has a physical presence at the History of Advertising Trust and a new Platinum Sponsor. 

This year the MRBA celebrates its 40th year of  ‘Helping Researchers in Need’.   As part of that celebration the MRBA has set a goal to raise a total of £40K in sponsorship and donations during 2017.
