AMSR announces retirement of founding trustee John Downham

The Archive of Market and Social Research (AMSR), which describes itself as “both a history of UK market research and UK history through market research”, has announced the retirement of one of its founding trustees.

John Downham, a Research Network member, was instrumental in setting up AMSR and served as its first treasurer; and he remains a member of the Archive’s Finance and Governance Committees.

John will be known to many of our members, having joined the MRS back in 1952 and worked for BMRB before joining Unilever in 1963. He sponsored our 15th Anniversary lunch at the Royal Air Force Club in October 2017.
