Gold medal for Phyllis Macfarlane

Thursday, May 20th, 2021

Congratulations to Research Network member Phyllis Macfarlane, who has just been awarded the gold medal of the Market Research Society.

Phyllis, former UK managing director of GfK, served not once but twice as Chair of the MRS. In 2018 she received the Outstanding Contribution Award from ESOMAR. She is currently a trustee of NatCen and had spent several years delivering and expanding the provision of MR education and training in Asia and in Africa, where she helped found the Ghana Market Research Association.

The gold medal recognises significant contributions to the market and social research sector. There have been 17 winners of the award since the gold medal was introduced 39 years ago. Phyllis will receive the medal at the MRS Excellence Awards lunch in September.

Jane Frost, MRS Chief Executive, said that Phyllis “has been a true role model for the entire research sector across her career” and described her contribution to the Society as “nothing short of phenomenal”.
