Ipsos and GfK close to a deal

Ipsos has announced that it has completed merger clearance of the agreement to acquire four of GfK’s global custom research divisions, covering customer experience, experience innovation, health and public affairs. The four divisions operate in a total of 26 countries and the deal was conditional on clearance from the authorities in all of these.

The transaction is worth €105 million and covers nearly 1000 members of staff in Europe, Asia, the USA and Latin America, though it excludes consumer panels and GfK’s Spanish and Portuguese operations. Once it is completed, GfK will concentrate on the digitisation and innovation of analytics in its core sectors of technology and durables. It is expected to be completed at the beginning of October.
